About the Author
Stephen Jenner has 25 years experience in finance and programme management roles in the public sector including as a member of the Senior Civil Service since 1999. From 2005-08 he headed the CJS IT portfolio, a £2bn investment in modernising justice. The approach adopted won the 2007 Civil Service Financial Management award and has been recognised internationally in reports to the European Commission, the OECD and in a short case study by Gartner. More recently he has participated in the development of Portfolio Management as part of the Cabinet Office's ICT strategy and he co-ordinates the cross-government Project Portfolio Management Special Interest Group as well as playing a leading role in the development of OGC guidance in this area.

Do not buy, not good book.

Do not buy this book. It is just a way the author has to get you interested in making an appointment with her, if you are lucky to live in England, otherwise, you just get stuck with the book and tons of unanswered questions or you can make a skype appointment that is so EXPENSIVE!! at least for me, who live in Southamerica. It is a book on common sense, feed well, do exercise, sleep well. Anything you can find online. Plus, why would ANYONE, give instructions for yoga poses with not a single picture, or qui gong for that matter? It is a very ambiguous book, you never know exactly what your type is, very repetitive, all throughout it seems to say the same. It is a book written out of a few repeated paragraphs throughout. Do not waste your time. Content is good, Chinese medicine, acupuncture...but you do not need to buy this because the tips it gives, the MINIMAL , tips it gives, so ambiguous, you can even find on any blog. A waste of my precious time. Plus, the title sucks. really, Bible? It is an insult to the Bible because content is so lacking, so unspecific and short. What do you mean by Bible?

This book is not only informative, but also easy to read and understand. I was able to understand more clearly the common mistakes that people make when trying to conceive and how easy these can be to change. I thought the recipes were great, easy to follow and even tried some of the ones with more adventurous ingredients, which i thought were fabulous! I have also become a big fan of acupuncture, having never tried it before, and have been using it regularly throughout my pregnancy since reading this book. I have already recommended this book to several of my friends who have just embarked on the baby making process and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of having a baby. It really is a book you cannot live without.

Well written and full of unique great info

I loved this book. Its so nicely organized I go back and re read the sections of where I am at in my cycle. The recipes are delish! All of her suggestions are great. I also go to acupuncture so this really helps me stay focused and calm. It's written in a very sweet calm way that is unalarming and is one of the few books thAt really gives you hope if you have been trying to conceive for some time.It has a ton of info about things you should do during your cycle and also about things you should eat or stay away from. I found a lot of really great information that I did not find in any other book or online. I highly recommend it.

The morning had dawned clear and cold, with a crispness that hinted at the end of summer. They set forth at daybreak to see a man beheaded, twenty in all, and Bran rode among them, nervous with excitement. This was the first time he had been deemed old enough to go with his lord father and his brothers to see the king's justice done. It was the ninth year of summer, and the seventh of Bran's life.

The man had been taken outside a small holdfast in the hills. Robb thought he was a wildling, his sword sworn to Mance Rayder, the King-beyond-the-Wall. It made Bran's skin prickle to think of it. He remembered the hearth tales Old Nan told them. The wildlings were cruel men, she said, slavers and slayers and thieves. They consorted with giants and ghouls, stole girl children in the dead of night, and drank blood from polished horns. And their women lay with the Others in the Long Night to sire terrible half-human children.

But the man they found bound hand and foot to the holdfast wall awaiting the king's justice was old and scrawny, not much taller than Robb. He had lost both ears and a finger to frostbite, and he dressed all in black, the same as a brother of the Night's Watch, except that his furs were ragged and greasy.

The breath of man and horse mingled, steaming, in the cold morning air as his lord father had the man cut down from the wall and dragged before them. Robb and Jon sat tall and still on their horses, with Bran between them on his pony, trying to seem older than seven, trying to pretend that he'd seen all this before. A faint wind blew through the holdfast gate. Over their heads flapped the banner of the Starks of Winterfell: a grey direwolf racing across an ice-white field.

Bran's father sat solemnly on his horse, long brown hair stirring in the wind. His closely trimmed beard was shot with white, making him look older than his thirty-five years. He had a grim cast to his grey eyes this day, and he seemed not at all the man who would sit before the fire in the evening and talk softly of the age of heroes and the children of the forest. He had taken off Father's face, Bran thought, and donned the face of Lord Stark of Winterfell.

There were questions asked and answers given there in the chill of morning, but afterward Bran could not recall much of what had been said. Finally his lord father gave a command, and two of his guardsmen dragged the ragged man to the ironwood stump in the center of the square. They forced his head down onto the hard black wood. Lord Eddard Stark dismounted and his ward Theon Greyjoy brought forth the sword. "Ice," that sword was called. It was as wide across as a man's hand, and taller even than Robb. The blade was Valyrian steel, spell-forged and dark as smoke. Nothing held an edge like Valyrian steel.

His father peeled off his gloves and handed them to Jory Cassel, the captain of his household guard. He took hold of Ice with both hands and said, "In the name of Robert of the House Baratheon, the First of his Name, King of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm, by the word of Eddard of the House Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North, I do sentence you to die." He lifted the great sword high above his head.

Bran's bastard brother Jon Snow moved closer. "Keep the pony well in hand," he whispered. "And don't look away. Father will know if you do."

Bran kept his pony well in hand, and did not look away.
His father took off the man's head with a single sure stroke. Blood sprayed out across the snow, as red as summerwine. One of the horses reared and had to be restrained to keep from bolting. Bran could not take his eyes off the blood. The snows around the stump drank it eagerly, reddening as he watched.

The head bounced off a thick root and rolled. It came up near Greyjoy's feet. Theon was a lean, dark youth of nineteen who found everything amusing. He laughed, put his boot on the head,and kicked it away.

"Ass," Jon muttered, low enough so Greyjoy did not hear. He put a hand on Bran's shoulder, and Bran looked over at his bastard brother.

"You did well," Jon told him solemnly. Jon was fourteen, an old hand at justice.

It seemed colder on the long ride back to Winterfell, though the wind had died by then and the sun was higher in the sky. Bran rode with his brothers, well ahead of the main party, his pony struggling hard to keep up with their horses.

"The deserter died bravely," Robb said. He was big and broad and growing every day, with his mother's coloring, the fair skin, red-brown hair, and blue eyes of the Tullys of Riverrun. "He had courage, at the least."

"No," Jon Snow said quietly. "It was not courage. This one was dead of fear. You could see it in his eyes, Stark." Jon's eyes were a grey so dark they seemed almost black, but there was little they did not see. He was of an age with Robb, but they did not look alike. Jon was slender where Robb was muscular, dark where Robb was fair, graceful and quick where his half brother was strong and fast.

Robb was not impressed. "The Others take his eyes," he swore. "He died well. Race you to the bridge?"

"Done," Jon said, kicking his horse forward. Robb cursed and followed, and they galloped off down the trail, Robb laughing and hooting, Jon silent and intent. The hooves of their horses kicked up showers of snow as they went.

Bran did not try to follow. His pony could not keep up. He had seen the ragged man's eyes, and he was thinking of them now. After a while, the sound of Robb's laughter receded, and the woods grew silent again.

That was when Jon reappeared on the crest of the hill before them. He waved and shouted down at them. "Father, Bran, come quickly, see what Robb has found!" Then he was gone again.

Jory rode up beside them. "Trouble, my lord?"

"Beyond a doubt," his lord father said. "Come, let us see what mischief my sons have rooted out now." He sent his horse into a trot. Jory and Bran and the rest came after.

They found Robb on the riverbank north of the bridge, with Jon still mounted beside him. The late summer snows had been heavy this moonturn. Robb stood knee-deep in white, his hood pulled back so the sun shone in his hair. He was cradling something in his arm, while the boys talked in hushed, excited voices.

The riders picked their way carefully through the drifts, groping for solid footing on the hidden, uneven ground. Jory Cassel and Theon Greyjoy were the first to reach the boys. Greyjoy was laughing and joking as he rode. Bran heard the breath go out of him. "Gods!" he exclaimed, struggling to keep control of his horse as he reached for his sword.

Jory's sword was already out. "Robb, get away from it!" he called as his horse reared under him.

Robb grinned and looked up from the bundle in his arms. "She can't hurt you," he said. "She's dead, Jory."

Bran was afire with curiosity by then. He would have spurred the pony faster, but his father made them dismount beside the bridge and approach on foot. Bran jumped off and ran.

By then Jon, Jory, and Theon Greyjoy had all dismounted as well. "What in the seven hells is it?" Greyjoy was saying.

"A wolf," Robb told him.

"A freak," Greyjoy said. "Look at the size of it."

Bran's heart was thumping in his chest as he pushed through a waist-high drift to his brothers' side.

Half-buried in blood stained snow, a huge dark shape slumped in death. Ice had formed in its shaggy grey fur, and the faint smell of corruption clung to it like a woman's perfume. Bran glimpsed blind eyes crawling with maggots, a wide mouth full of yellowed teeth. But it was the size of it that made him gasp. It was bigger than his pony, twice the size of the largest hound in his father's kennel.

"It's no freak," Jon said calmly. "That's a direwolf. They grow larger than the other kind."

Theon Greyjoy said, "There's not been a direwolf sighted south of the Wall in two hundred years."

"I see one now," Jon replied.

Bran tore his eyes away from the monster. That was when he noticed the bundle in Robb's arms. He gave a cry of delight and moved closer. The pup was a tiny ball of grey-black fur, its eyes still closed. It nuzzled blindly against Robb's chest as he cradled it, searching for milk among his leathers, making a sad little whimpery sound. Bran reached out hesitantly. "Go on,"Robb told him. "You can touch him."

Bran gave the pup a quick nervous stroke, then turned as Jon said, "Here you go." His half brother put a second pup into his arms. "There are five of them." Bran sat down in the snow and hugged the wolf pup to his face. Its fur was soft and warm against his cheek.

"Direwolves loose in the realm, after so many years," muttered Hullen, the master of horse. "I like it not."

"It is a sign," Jory said.

Father frowned. "This is only a dead animal, Jory," he said. Yet he seemed troubled. Snow crunched under his boots as he moved around the body. "Do we know what killed her?"

"There's something in the throat," Robb told him, proud to have found the answer before his father even asked. "There, just under the jaw."
His father knelt and groped under the beast's head with his hand. He gave a yank and held it up for all to see. A foot of shattered antler, tines snapped off, all wet with blood.

A sudden silence descended over the party. The men looked at the antler uneasily, and no one dared to speak. Even Bran could sense their fear, though he did not understand.

His father tossed the antler to the side and cleansed his hands in the snow. "I'm surprised she lived long enough to whelp," he said. His voice broke the spell.

"Maybe she didn't," Jory said. "I've heard tales . . . maybe the bitch was already dead when the pups came."

"Born with the dead," another man put in. "Worse luck."

"No matter," said Hullen. "They be dead soon enough too."

Bran gave a wordless cry of dismay.

"The sooner the better," Theon Greyjoy agreed. He drew his sword.

"Give the beast here, Bran."

The little thing squirmed against him, as if it heard and understood.

"No!" Bran cried out fiercely. "It's mine."

"It be a mercy to kill them," Hullen said.

Bran looked to his lord father for rescue, but got only a frown, a furrowed brow. "Hullen speaks truly, son. Better a swift death than a hard one from cold and starvation."

"No!" He could feel tears welling in his eyes, and he looked away. He did not want to cry in front of his father.

"Lord Stark," Jon said. It was strange to hear him call Father that, so formal. Bran looked at him with desperate hope. "There are five pups," he told Father. "Three male, two female."

"What of it, Jon?"

"You have five true born children," Jon said. "Three sons, two daughters. The direwolf is the sigil of your House. Your children were meant to have these pups, my lord."

Bran saw his father's face change, saw the other men exchange glances. He loved Jon with all his heart at that moment. Even at seven, Bran understood what his brother had done. The count had come right only because Jon had omitted himself. He had included the girls, included even Rickon, the baby, but not the bastard who bore the surname Snow, the name that custom decreed be given to all those in the north unlucky enough to be born with no name of their own.

Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.

"The direwolf graces the banners of House Stark," Jon pointed out. "I am no Stark, Father."

Their lord father regarded Jon thoughtfully. Robb rushed into the silence he left. "I will nurse him myself, Father," he promised. "I will soak a towel with warm milk, and give him suck from that."

"Me too!" Bran echoed.

The lord weighed his sons long and carefully with his eyes. "Easy to say, and harder to do. I will not have you wasting the servants' time with this. If you want these pups, you will feed them yourselves. Is that understood?"

Bran nodded eagerly. The pup squirmed in his grasp, lickedat his face with a warm tongue.

It was not until they were mounted and on their way that Bran allowed himself to taste the sweet air of victory. By then, his pup was snuggled inside his leathers, warm against him, safe for the long ride home. Bran was wondering what to name him.

Halfway across the bridge, Jon pulled up suddenly.

"What is it, Jon?" their lord father asked.

"Can't you hear it?"

Bran could hear the wind in the trees, the clatter of their hooves on the ironwood planks, the whimpering of his hungry pup, but Jon was listening to something else.

"There," Jon said. He swung his horse around and galloped back across the bridge. They watched him dismount where the direwolf lay dead in the snow, watched him kneel. A moment later he was riding back to them, smiling.

"He must have crawled away from the others," Jon said.

"Or been driven away," their father said, looking at the sixth pup. His fur was white, where the rest of the litter was grey. His eyes were as red as the blood of the ragged man who had died that morning. Bran thought it curious that this pup alone would have opened his eyes while the others were still blind.

"An albino," Theon Greyjoy said with wry amusement. "This one will die even faster than the others."

Jon Snow gave his father's ward a long, chilling look. "I think not, Greyjoy," he said. "This one belongs to me."

A wealth of information

This book is an invaluable aid for anyone looking to improve their fitness using cross training. It does exactly 'what it says on the tin', providing you with a multitude of daily workouts.

All in all, a great compilation. There are enough WOD's in this great little book to add variety to you workout routine for years to come.

Best selection!

This record is my gemstone collection and thanks to Morgan, who provide me this as a newfangled direction of life. Actually, I had in frustration cause of my physical weakness (Fat) and others. Finally, this book gave me direction to avoid blame life. After reading, I just realized myself as a strong man having right tips and tricks Of body exercise. There have lots of techniques that are suitable for all ages people and I like to be exposed the Day with these cross training! Highly recommend to my friends!

Well laid out and formatted in Kindle. Easy to read and follow along. This has some of the best workouts i have come across. Really kick my butt.

Anyone into cross training needs to get this book. I highly recommend it. For experienced people you will catch on quick. For beginners this book takes the time in the beginning to teach basic terms. So either way this book is for you. I like the name too, lol.

The memoir of a young physicist, coming of age in Hitler's Germany, who was part of a secret experimental base that developed the V-2, the world's first large rocket-powered missile, under the direction of Wernher von Braun. Wegener, professor emeritus of engineering and applied science at Yale, whose specialty was wind-tunnel research, gives us valuable and candid insights into the pioneer German rocket program. Hitler hoped that the secret operation would provide wonder weapons to insure victory; instead, the technical information developed by the program helped the US to eventually put a man on the moon. Wegener is aware of his good fortune in being transferred from combat duty in Russia, in having had a technical education, and in having been trained by leading scientists whose recommendations paved the way for him to be part of this exotic program. The author believes that Allied spies discovered the secret base, since a heavy British bombing raid caused much destruction but missed the wind tunnels. The program was quickly moved to the quiet Bavarian mountains and installed in manmade caves. Wegener, a secret anti-Nazi, writes that few of these German scientists were Nazis; most had a passion for science and little interest in the practical outcome of their lethal work. He fails to dwell on the deadly effects of the V-2 rockets on the civilian population of London but does note the plight of the concentration camp prisoners forced to work on the assembly line. Wegener describes the last days of the war in Germany and the mad scramble to escape the Soviets, who were determined to capture scientists, precious equipment, and valuable documents. Living in Germany during the war

A war, a good story, and well-written without indulgence, this book is worth the read. My father Peter Wegener lived through the last world war on the German side, caught in a maelstrom not of his making. A young man cannot judge the situation, but has to make the best of it, and this memoir captures this human and ordinary situation. Intelligent and bewildered, he watches and remembers, and then tells the story here.

The story unfolds in chronological order and is mostly his own narrative. However, he spent several years investigating archives and interviewing other participants to shed light on what was happening, so everything is in perspective. Famous participants of the drama include Werner von Braun and various scientists and generals. The book is also a unique historical record of the German scientific project to create new weapons.

Self-preservation was everyone's motive in this strange time. Totalitarian means constant fear, stories of betrayal, and yet all these stories are intensely human. He does not indulge in lectures or morals, but simply relates how it all unfolded. Driving a tired Opel through the country to gather a research archive, he visits the Mittelwerk, the underground factory where the V2 was built with slave labor. Despite total destruction all around, everyone acts normal on the surface, and nothing happens, but the situation seethes. As the war finally closes in, he runs into the street to greet the first American officer to tell him not to destroy the laboratory. This laboratory became a starting point for the post-war space effort in the US.

A Fascinating Account of Germany's Wind Tunnels During WWII

First, I want to say I am in agreement with the prior review written by the author's son and those contained in Amazon's listing for this book. Still, I would like to give my impressions of this fascinating book written by a highly qualified individual who was on the scene during and after World War II.

THE PEENEMUNDE WIND TUNNELS is an account of author Peter Wegener's experiences during the last half of World War II and the years shortly afterwards. Mr. Wegener had been a German anti-aircraft gunner in the Wehrmacht during the campaigns against France and Russia but not in the historic battle for Stalingrad. It was at this point that he was transferred to the Peenemunde Research & Development facility which the author believed probably saved his life. While at Peenemunde, Wegener worked on experimental research and development of supersonic flow in support of the design of the famous V2 rocket and the never used Wasserfall anti-aircraft missile. Peter Wegener was a highly skilled engineer/scientist in a field known as gas dynamics.

I found this book to be a very personal account of the events that took place in the author's life during the war years and his time in the United States after the war ended. However, it is still an objective book written mostly on official documents plus the author's own personal dairy. Those with an academic interest will find this book has both a solid chronology of events concerning the Peenemunde wind tunnels as well as detailed notes and background information on related topics.
I was also pleased with the various illustrations which consisted largely of technical and historical photographs.

The wind tunnels themselves were build at Peenemunde, in the eastern part of Germany, beginning around 1939 and were technically very advanced. The wind tunnels were moved after the serious air raid of August 1943 to Kochel, Bavaria.
(The wind tunnels and the Aerodynamics Institute that housed them were amazingly unharmed by the air raid.) At the time, these wind tunnels were the largest (400mm x 400 mm cross section) and the highest Mach number (up to almost 9) facilities in existence.

In regards to his discussion of technical matters, Wegener concentrates mainly on aerodynamics and wind-tunnel technology but I found the book not to be overly detailed since its presentation is aimed more for the general reader/layman as opposed to scientists and engineers. As an example, the coupling of the huge V2 motor to the controls was a problem that took many test flights to straighten out but it was only touched on lightly in the book.

After the capture of the wind tunnels and their shipment to the United States at the end of the war, Wegener found himself as one of the German scientists moved to America under Project Paperclip. This phase of his life, as seen by one who actually participated in the U.S. government project, made for interesting reading. To his credit, Wegener here and elsewhere in his book, compares his perceptions and judgments with others especially as it touches upon the various personalities at Peenemunde. These include Dr. Wernher von Braun and General Walter Dornberger, the respective heads of the civilian and military operations at Peenemunde, Rudolf Herrmann, head of the Aerodynamics Institute, and the notorious Arthur Rudolph who, after the August 1943 air raid, moved with the V2 factory from Peenemunde to the Mittelwerk in central Germany, a mine that was converted to an underground factory in which prisoners from the concentration camp Dora were forced to build the weapons under appalling conditions.

Wegener in his book rates the application of rockets to warfare as one of the three most important developments in military strategy during World War II (the other two being the atomic bomb and radar). While I personally agree with Wegener's assertion, I think most historians and military thinkers today feel that the deployment of the V2 was far less effective that the A-bomb or radar (while acknowledging that the V2 had a significant influence on post-World War II developments in both the United States and the Soviet Union). I believe it was Homer J. Stewart, an American rocket researcher during the period between 1938 and 1949, who pointed out that the impact of the German developments on the U.S. missile and space program was not so much technological (except for the use of large engines) as psychological: the V2 had shown the feasibility, and thus the immediate utility, of guided missiles in war.

Wegener's book gives the reader many lasting impressions. First, there is the fact that German science and technology in several areas was quite impressive -- the wind tunnels themselves were the most advanced of their kind at the time. The men like Wegener who worked on such projects were far more interested in science and engineering than in any Nazi ideology. Having said that however, another lasting impression from reading the book, which Wegener does not hide or gloss over, is the ghastly statistic that significantly more people died as a result of the inhumane conditions under which prisoners were forced to build V2s than through the weapon's deployment and use in the war.

With this book, the late Peter Wegener (who became an American citizen in 1954 and joined the faculty of Yale University as a professor in 1960) has given us a valuable and well-written narrative, complete with an excellent set of academic notes and comments, concerning a period of great scientific and historical interest for the United States. As such, I consider this book to be an important addition to the literature on the development of the V2 rocket and it subsequent affects in various other areas both in the U.S. and elsewhere. I recommend Wegener's book to all readers from a variety of backgrounds -- it is a book of genuine interest and value.

The author describes details of the beginnings of supersonic and hypersonic research and facilities that are not easily found in one resource. Also, the first person I have heard or read that testifies that von Braun was NOT a Nazi....based on first person friendship with him. Also a great perspective on the war from the German side.

About the Author
Paul M. Muchinsky received his B.A. degree in psychology from Gettysburg College, his M.S. degree in psychology from Kansas State University, and his Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Purdue University. He was a faculty member of Iowa State University for twenty years. In 1993 he was appointed the Joseph M. Bryan Distinguished Professor of Business at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 2004 Dr. Muchinsky was the recipient of the inaugural Distinguished Teaching Award from the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology for his outstanding educational contributions to the field. Throughout his career, Dr. Muchinsky has been very active in a wide range of professional activities within the field of industrial/organizational psychology. Many of the cases and examples of concepts presented in this book come directly from his professional experiences. When not engaged as an I/O psychologist, Dr. Muchinsky fantasizes about playing baseball for the New York Yankees.

Through it all, and even today, in one of the most trying times of his life, he has never given up hope, and still is committed by any means necessary to reach a higher plateau in life! This is not an autobiography of his life, but elements of his experience's in life are found in the book to stand as support in some of the facts and views expressed. This book was constructed with the intent to give a voice, to the voiceless! Not those only incarcerated, but those in the free-world also, whose lives are plagued by ignorance, and for those who have been put in place, to make decisions, judgments, too often speaking for, and rendering out punishments, among those whose lives they have deemed worthless and expendable, have no genuine concern for, and continuously failing to make an honest effort to assist or simply understand. His current situation and commitment to persevere, is a testament to the statement and fact that: nobody can stop you, but you!
