Review of Simon Hawke

I've always been keen on historical novels and sci-fi. You cannot imagine how pleased I was to find a series that combines both. Mr. Hawkes research is excellent,and his concept of the nature of time travel,paradoxes etc is second to none. I haven't yet got the entire series but each time I read one of his Timewars novels I want more.

What happens when myth and history collide in two timelines? The Argonaut Affair of course.

IN the 27th century time travel is real and wars were fought in the past to ensure that the 27th century was the battle ground. However that has changed and now a war only thought of as a fantasy is forth coming. As an alternate timeline has declared war on Earth or as Earth as we know of it from the 27th century the Time Corps has been enlarged and reorganized into a fighting force to combat and stop the alternate timeline.
In Ancient Greece a centaur is found and brought back to the 27th century for study and to determine if it is real. With all the advanced technology of the 27th century at their disposal they discover that the centaur is real and from all accounts it came from a doorway into the alternate time line world. They also make the discovery that this centaur is none other then the very same that taught some of the greatest heroes of myth like Hercules, Jason and even Theseus. But that means that in the alternate time line that they are real and in their own are nothing more then legend. After learning all they could the send Finn Delaney and Andre Cross along with their new commanding office LTC Stiener. Replacing Preist and the same man who was secretly spying on Drakov. Together they discover that Jason is real and that he searches for the Golden Fleece to reclaim his father's kingdom.
What the three of them are trying to figure out is why is the alternate timeline allowing this to happen? Is this a part of their history and have to let it play out? Or is it something else? Have they stumbled upon some elaborate plan to see what it would take to destroy their timeline? The only way to figure that out is to go along with Jason and the rest of the Argonauts and the quest for the Golden Fleece. What they intend to find at the end could cost them their own history or worse? Who knows and only the Time Commandos can figure it out.
