About the Author
Dr Guy Meadows is a sleep physiologist, with a doctorate (PhD) from Imperial College, London. He has been working in sleep for the past 12 years, 8 of which have been dedicated purely to helping clients overcome insomnia. He spent four and half years working within the sleep research laboratories of the Royal Brompton and Charing Cross hospitals. His PhD investigated sleep in normal individuals and patients with sleep apnoea. He is trained in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He is pioneering the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Insomnia (ACT-I) and regularly talks and runs training workshops for other therapists.

Changed my life!

Wonderful book about how to come to peace with unwanted feelings and thoughts which can keep you awake. The ACT method can be applied well to the rest of life too, not just sleep. I'm so grateful for this book and the technique. I now consider myself a former insomniac. I rarely have trouble sleeping anymore, but when I do, I'm not upset by it anymore - I just use this technique and I'm fine. I should add that this really is different from all of the other sleep books. It teaches you how to confront the insomnia head on - harder at first, but if you stick with it, it's the long-term solution. There are many more reviews for this book on the UK Amazon site. Don't lose hope. You'll get through this too, just like I did.

Insomnia Cured

I had tried everything for my insomnia and nothing worked until I read this book. The harder I tried to fix my sleep and control it the worse it got--sleep schedules, relaxation techniques, pills, cognitive behavioral therapy, you name it I tried it. Guy Meadows approach is simple--if you behave like a normal sleeper you will become one. Normal sleepers do not tightly control their sleeping environment or schedule, they don't get out of bed if they are wake up in the middle of the night, they don't take pills to sleep, and most importantly, they don't get anxious if they can't sleep. For me insomnia was about a phobia of being awake, and once I was able to get over it, normal sleep was mine again. It was NOT easy--I had to work really hard at this and for the first couple of weeks I slept very little, but gradually after that as I got better at the techniques in the book, I slept better and better. The techniques are now habit and I've had normal sleep with no pills for over 3 months now. I can't say enough about this book or program--they were exactly what I needed to cure my insomnia.

Wonderful Book!

I am so glad I read this wonderful book! A very simple approach used by Dr.Meadows not only helped me sleep better, but also readjusted my attitude to life in general. Now I sleep peacefully every night. If sleep eludes me, I just use the simple techniques and drift back to sleep.
Also, I use this book when I need to get into a balanced mood if I face a stressful situation. It is a tremendous help!
Highly recommend!
